How to Order

This installation features a colonial style 3'-6" diameter spiral,
achieved through a combination of the moulded handrail #R300, turned
balusters #B303, with one additional turned baluster on the center of
each tread. This design was continued at the sitting area loft above,
with matching gallery style #3, to which the homeowner also applied
an oak fascia board.
Please provide the information listed in Request for Quote
(diameter; height; wood species, and design options), in addition to sketches
or architectural prints, if available, showing first and second floor
levels.
Upon receipt of this information, accompanied by a deposit, we will submit
architectural drawings, along with any recommendations, for approval prior
to fabrication.
Note: Finished well opening dimensions must be a minimum of 4”
larger than the diameter.
Code Compliance
Curvoflite’s spiral and circular staircases generally comply with
the National BOCA building codes, however, due to the strictly custom
design of each stair and end use or application, as well as rapidly changing
Code requirements, it is the full responsibility of the person ordering
the stair to ensure it meets with their local and/or state building codes
appropriate for their use. We will be happy to discuss code issues with
your local Inspector on your behalf.
Design Service
Curvoflite Stairs And Millwork, Inc., maintains a toll free number (877)
782-4771 should you require more information than is provided in this
catalogue. Our staff can generally solve layout and design problems over
the telephone if a copy of your floor plan has been sent to us in advance
of your call.
Installation
As each stair is handcrafted and built in our shop prior to shipping,
re-assembly of the stair requires a minimum of work. The tread is one
piece with the riser and end bracket assembled, numbered on the inside
to match a number on the center pole. Each baluster is also numbered,
to a corresponding number on top of the end bracket. The platform, unless
otherwise designed, should be flush with your finished floor level, supported
by a small bracket underneath which is bolted to the floor joist. The
center pole has a base plate collar that is screwed to the floor. Gallery
(balcony) railing is sent loose, to be cut and fit on site, after the
platform is attached.
Shipping
Each spiral stair is fully shop assembled, then partially disassembled
to facilitate handling and reduce shipping charges. The stairs are packed
and crated in three custom triwall corrugated boxes: the center pole
is one separate box, the handrail is bubble wrapped, and all other parts
(platform, assembled tread and riser unit, balusters, hardware, plugs
and buttons) are sent in one box 24” high x 36” wide x 72” long.
